Hatsuyume

the Great Buddha’s smile     hydrangea dreams

My adopted grandmother once told me that if I were to see Mount Fuji or a hawk or an aubergine in my first dream, that year would be good. And so I think of these three, as many times as I can in the last two days of the year.

I want to have a fantastic, “no one can stop me” next year. It has to be different from the year that I left home, the decade after my graduation or the time that I spent waiting for the one who never came back.
